Let’s talk about: Make-Up.

Let’s talk about make-up. As a girl I always loved to try my mums make-up. To keep me quiet she gave me her make up and allowed me to make her prettier. Of course she ended up looking like a make-up monster. When I was fourteen I was allowed to use make-up, but only mascara, eyeshadow and powder. I used to go to the local HEMA store and buy a new stuff. Now, many years later, I get my make-up mostly from Lancome and L’oreal Paris. Lancome’s Teint Miracle and Hypnose mascara are the only products from Lancome that I use on daily basis. I love the light structure of Teint Miracle, it is easy to apply and feels like you have nothing on your skin. Hypnose mascara is a favorite as well. It gives the right volume, lengthens properly and adds a little drama 😉

From L’Oreal Paris I almost use everything. I recently bought a lipstick form the Color Riche line and I’m definitely in love with it. It’s just the right red that I was looking for. I also use the eyeshadows from Color Riche Smoky Die for Chocolate 302 and Smoky Place Vendome 306 for a natural smokey eye effect. Super Liner perfect Slim from L’Oreal Paris is the perfect liner for everyday use as well. My favorite nail polish colors from L’Oreal Paris Color Riche are Scarlet Vamp 404, Jolie Brunette 110 and topcoat Goldleaf 920.

I don’t like to buy only expensive make up just because it is cool to have them, like a whole collection of MAC Lipsticks. You have to be able to play and experiment with it and I woundn’t waste my expensive make-up just to practice smokey eye effect.  My make-up varies between affordable brands like GOSH and L’Oreal and expensive brands like Lancome, Chanel, Lancaster & Guerlain.

What are your favorite make-up brands and which one is the most important to you that you just can’t live without?

Samantha Jones is not a slut!

As I told you in my last post, I’m kind of addicted to Sex and the City. I don’t know why someone can’t love or at least appreciate SATC. But that aside, I wanted to talk about one of the characters. Samantha Jones.

A proud, confident, highly sexual woman, most of her storylines revolve around the frequent sex and brief affairs she has. She is outspoken and a self-proclaimed “try-sexual” (meaning she’ll try anything at least once). She is portrayed as brash, straightforward, highly protective of her friends, and unafraid of confrontation. She also displays nonchalance toward dating and monogamy and becomes uncomfortable whenever her sexual relationships take an emotional turn.

However, everytime I talk to people about SATC, they always seem to see Samantha as a slut. They find her easy-to-get, trashy with a behaviour which a proper woman should not have. But there are certain things which I really don’t seem to understand. Why is Samantha Jones a slut, but for example, Mr. Bond isn´t. Why is it acceptable for a guy to have many sexual partners, but not for a woman?

First of all, people seem to have a certain way of behaving for a woman and man. Men are aloud to assert their sexual needs, but a decent woman cannot do this. If she does, then she is a slut!

Second of all, a decent woman, apperently, shouldn’t have a lot of sexual partners, certainly no one-night-stands. If she does, she is a slut!

And last but not least, our society thinks that women are only aloud to have sex with the people they have a relationship with. If they don’t, they are simply sluts!

But what about men? Why can they sleep with thousand(if that’s possible) of women and not being seen as sluts. Is there even a male word for slut? The thing that most surprised me, is that the majority in who’s opinion Samantha is a slut, are women!

Girls, if we want to be treated equallly and get the same chances as the other sex, why don’t we start with ourselfs first?

I just want to say that whatever a woman does, it’s her own business. No one has the right to call someone, in this case Samantha, a slut if they are sexually active and not sleeping with one regular person.

Oh Baby, I’m in Paris!

Hey there!

I know it’s been a while since I posted something, but it’s because I’ve done some great things! A few weeks ago I wanted to write about how badly I wanted to visit Paris. Paris is one of my favorite cities, but I hadn’t it. But that same day, my aunt, who is for 2 weeks in Holland visiting us with her husband and daughter, came up with an idea to go to Paris in the weekend with my niece and uncle. And the awesome part was, she was taking me with them!

The next day we were in PARIS! I really enjoyed being there and had a fantastic time, I felt like I was born there and could find everything very easily. The people were very kind and polite. The hotel was great, it was just a street from the Louvre.

The First Day.

The day we arrived in Paris, we went to our hotel, took a shower, put on something pretty and went to the Louvre. After that we went to the Eiffel tower. My sister said it was very beautiful at night and you had great view when all the city lights were on and everything. But there was one little problem when we arrived there. The queue was really long. Not just long, but extremely long. It wasn’t really what I had expected. So after an hour we finally could buy our tickets and guess what, we were the last group who could enter the Eiffel tower, because it was already 12:00 pm. As my sister told, the view was prodigious from the top! Well, after we visited the Eiffel, it was already 1:15 am and there was no metro to Quatre Septembre, where our hotel was. And of course we didn’t know that. We transfered to another metrostation and figured it out. It was cold, it was raining, my feet were killing me and there was no metro! The first cab I asked wanted €30 and ofcourse I didn’t take that one. After a 30 minutes I finally found a taxi who took me to my hotel for €13,90.

The second day.

Exhausted as we were from the previous night, we managed to wake up full with energy to go on. We visited the Versailles and Champs-Élysée avenue. Did a little shopping and walked till our feet begged us to return to the hotel.

The third day,

Next to the Louvre, there was a ferris wheel. The view from the ferris wheel was awesome! After that we took Le Bateaux Mouches and had a lovely sightseeing. The third day was, I think, more walking around doing nothing but shopping. With shopping I mean buying little souvernirs etc.

The forth day.

We woke up at 6:00am, took the metro to the busstation and came back to Amsterdam. =(

Now, at home, I’m like daydreaming about Paris. About how it would be if I lived there, you know all those “if ” questions.

Some dreams do really come true =) and I’m really happy that at least this dream came true!

In My Closet!

I was thinking about something new for my blog. After looking in my room for some inspiration, I thought, maybe I could tell something about things that are in my closet. I have chosen for this 3 things to tell about where I bought it, and maybe a story about this thing.

I bought this vest in Amsterdam’s H&M for €10-. I fell in love when I saw this hanging there. My friend and I were in Amsterdam for a job,we wanted to work in a cafe “La  Place”, so we went there to talk with the manager and we got the job! This vest has a hippie look and I love the strings that are hanging on it. The colour is fantastic, white is totally good looking for in the summer, when you’ve got a tan.

This clutch is also from H&M, but from a whole other city, Barcelona! We went on a trip with school and after arriving there, we went shopping with the girls. It was love at first sight. It was €15-, so it was not that expensive. I love the colour and the texture. It reminds me of a garden full of red roses.

Yes, it seems like that I only buy my clothes at H&M, but it was just a coincidence. These shoes are soo soft and the colour is so tempting. I bought them yesterday. Actually I went yesterday to the library to do some homework with my friend, so if my mom is gonna read this, I’m dead xD. We just walked past H&M and we couldn’t resist the temptation so we walked in and I finally found my size!
